In honor of Bvlgari’s 140th anniversary, the soul of the Maison finds its most sublime expression in The Serpenti Aeterna Necklace. Featuring seven flawless diamonds from Lesotho meticulously cut from a single rough stone, the total carat weight of 140.00 is an homage to the Maison’s remarkable journey. The iconic Serpenti assumes a discreet yet majestic role as the clasp, guarding this anniversary masterpiece with ruby eyes ablaze.
Seven D flawless diamond drops, curated under the discerning eye of Creative Director Lucia Silvestri, stand as a tribute to Bvlgari’s legacy of precious gem sourcing, totaling an exceptional and poignant 140.00 carats, one for each year of Bvlgari history. From the over 200 carat rough stone, Lucia Silvestri personally supervised each decision in the cutting to achieve the chosen shape and carat weight, sacrificing portions of carat weight to attain unparalleled refinement. Carefully calibrated proportions and nuanced considerations of curvature ensure an elegant alignment around the neck, showcasing utmost mastery in gem cutting. The resulting drops are remarkable not just for their extraordinary carat weight but in their harmonization.
In the hands of one of the workshop’s senior artisans, the dormant platinum was brought to life, embodying not just elegance but the dedication and artistry synonymous with the Maison. Beginning with a single block of wax, they sculpted and molded the necklace’s 18 distinct elements before wielding a flame to delicately curve and imbue the composition with grace. This process, arduous and time-consuming, was but a prelude to the intricate casting phase. Every step, from creating the molds to the painstaking drilling and refining by hand, was a challenge to the artisan’s expertise and unwavering commitment to perfection.
The final composition reveals baguette diamonds, integrated over five months, into a sinuous wave flowing toward the back of the necklace. Strategically positioned, these diamonds ignite a radiant interplay, enhancing brilliance through a captivating game of planes and counter-planes that allows each facet to contribute to the sense of sinuous movement. The sections are masterfully joined, linked by an intricate system of concealed prongs and links. Carefully mounted to gently conform to the body’s contours, these flexible junctures ensure a graceful, comfortable fit.
